Congress Slams Kamareddy MLA Over ‘Attack Drama’ Allegations
Kamareddy, Feb. 24 (Maxim News):Tensions escalated in Kamareddy after local Congress leaders strongly criticized Kamareddy MLA Venkatramana Reddy, accusing him of staging an “attack drama” to divert attention from alleged land encroachment issues.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Congress party office in Kamareddy town, party leaders including Town President Pandla Raju, PCC General Secretary Indrakaran Reddy, Library Chairman Chandrakant Reddy, constituency youth leader Gudugula Srinivas, and NSUI district president Aireni Sandeep Kumar addressed the media.
“False Drama to Cover Corruption”
The Congress leaders alleged that the MLA fabricated claims of an attack to shield himself from allegations related to college land encroachments.
They stated that no external attack had taken place.
Instead, they claimed that a close relative of the MLA was called for discussions and later assaulted by the MLA’s own supporters, with the victim’s car also reportedly damaged.
According to them, the incident was being misrepresented to mislead the BJP leadership and create political sympathy.
“Public Representatives Must Be Accountable”
The leaders emphasized that winning an election alone is not enough, and public representatives must remain accountable to the people.
They questioned the MLA’s conduct and accused him of indulging in “cheap politics” out of fear that alleged corruption details would come to light.
They also criticized leaders who visited the MLA in support, alleging that some of them themselves faced serious accusations, including land encroachment and smuggling-related allegations.
Challenge to Prove Congress Involvement
The Congress leaders challenged the MLA to prove that any Congress leader, apart from Mahender Reddy, had visited his camp office in connection with the incident.
They stated that if such claims were proven, they were ready to quit politics.
Warning of Political Consequences
The party leaders further alleged that the MLA was resorting to divisive politics by repeatedly raising communal issues instead of focusing on constituency development.
They claimed that victims were now coming forward courageously and warned that the MLA’s “corruption empire” would soon collapse.
Concluding the press meet, they cautioned that if such “political theatrics” continued, the people of Kamareddy would not allow him to even approach the Assembly gates again, calling his current tenure his “first and last term” as MLA. (Maxim News)
