United Muslim Forum Flags Rising Communal Activities in Telangana
Hyderabad, Feb. 25 (Maxim News): The United Muslim Forum has raised alarm over rising communal activities in Telangana and urged the state government to act firmly against divisive elements.
The Forum said recent incidents show a pattern of targeting mosques, dargahs, and Muslim businesses. It demanded strict action to protect religious harmony.
In a press release issued, Forum leaders said the transfer of Dargah Sharif in Vemulawada led to demolition activity that created tension.
They described the action in Rajanna Sircilla district as unacceptable. They warned that failure to act could set a dangerous precedent. Therefore, they asked the government to restore confidence among minorities through concrete steps.
The Forum also cited violence in Banswada town of Kamareddy district last Friday. Leaders alleged that unidentified groups targeted Muslim traders in a planned manner.
According to the statement, miscreants damaged shops and hotels. They claimed violence continued in the presence of police. Moreover, they alleged that police filed cases against affected Muslims instead of acting against the attackers.
Rising Communal Activities in Telangana Under Scrutiny
The Forum linked these incidents to broader communal activities in Telangana. It referred to vandalism at a mosque in Jalalpur village of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
It also mentioned alleged targeting of Muslims in two mandals of Mahabubnagar district. In addition, leaders pointed to tensions during Shivaji Jayanti processions in Amberpet in Hyderabad and in Banswada.
Forum representatives stated that organizations active in northern states now seek to expand into Telangana.
They alleged that such groups conduct meetings to divide communities. However, they did not name any specific organization.
The Forum noted that the Home portfolio remains with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

It urged him to introduce a law against hate speech in the upcoming budget session of the Assembly. The Chief Minister had earlier announced plans for such legislation.
The Forum demanded an independent probe into the Banswada violence. It also sought compensation for victims and release of those it described as innocent.
Furthermore, it appealed for immediate payment of honorariums for imams and muezzins for January and February, as Ramadan has begun and Eid preparations approach.
Forum officials said peace and social harmony remain essential for Telangana’s progress. They urged the government to act swiftly to prevent further communal activities in Telangana. (Maxim News)
