Mega Ex Servicemen Rally Held At Kurnool

  • Nearly 2000 Ex Servicemen attend HQ TASA event

Hyderabad: Mega Ex Servicemen Rally was organised at TG Lakshmi Kalyan Mandapam in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, under the aegis of Headquarters Telangana and Andhra Sub Area. Nearly 2000 Ex Servicemen and their dependants took part in the event. Veterans and Veer Naris from Kurnool district attended in large numbers.

Major General Ajay Misra, General Officer Commanding, TASA, addressed the gathering. Later, he held an interactive session with the Ex Servicemen community. The interaction provided much awaited succour to veterans, as such an event was organised after a considerable gap. The rally honoured Veer Naris and Veterans. Bastipati Nagaraju Panchalingala, Member of Parliament from Kurnool, and Shri TG Bharath, MLA Kurnool and Minister for Industries, Commerce and Food Processing, Government of Andhra Pradesh, also attended.

During the Mega Ex Servicemen Rally, organisers felicitated eight Veer Naris. They also provided wheelchairs and walking sticks to ten Ex Servicemen as welfare assistance. Representatives from Colonel Veterans, ECHS, AWPO, URC and the Rajya Sainik Board shared updates on the latest policies and welfare schemes. Meanwhile, the Army Welfare Placement Organisation handed over job selection letters to Ex Servicemen and shortlisted candidates for various employment opportunities.

A medical camp was also organised at the venue. It offered free cancer screening, dental and eye check ups and free medicines. Nearly 10 doctors and 17 supporting staff from reputed hospitals in Kurnool and nearby areas volunteered for the camp. Grievance redressal desks from various Record Offices, Rajya Sainik Board, Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Veterans Cell, AWPO, ECHS, CDA Secunderabad and multiple banks were set up. A total of 1200 grievances were received. Of these, 823 were resolved on the spot, while the remaining were forwarded to the respective Record Offices for further action.

Apart from Defence helpdesks, State Government helpdesks related to Legal, Revenue and Human Resources provided free counselling and assistance. In view of the Defence Corridor being established in Kurnool, AWPO coordinated with HR helpdesks to support future employment opportunities. The civil administration extended support by providing buses, the venue, police assistance, fire tender and ambulance services. The Mega Ex Servicemen Rally reaffirmed the commitment of HQ TASA towards the welfare of veterans and their families.
