Sukhoi Fighter Jet Crashes In Assam, Pilots Killed

A Russian Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet, which was undergoing training, reportedly lost contact with radar shortly after taking off from the Jorhat air base in Assam. It is reported that it crashed in a remote hilly area shortly after. Locals said that a huge explosion was heard in the area and a fire broke out. Alerted officials immediately intensified the search. Officials recently identified the crash site as about 60 kilometers from Jorhat.

Officials said that two pilots lost their lives in the accident. The deceased have been identified as Squadron Leader Anuj and Flight Lieutenant Purvesh Durgakar. The Indian Air Force (IAF) has expressed grief over their deaths. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed his condolences on the occasion. (Maxim News)
