ACB Raids Karimnagar CI, Cash And Gold Seized

Hyderabad: ACB raids in Karimnagar led to the arrest of an Urban Excise Circle Inspector and the seizure of cash and gold jewellery. Officials acted against CI Gundeti Raju on corruption charges. The arrest took place on the night of March 17 while he was working in Vemulawada in Sircilla district.

According to officials, the Anti Corruption Bureau conducted searches soon after the arrest. The raids were carried out at the CI’s house in Jagtial district around midnight on March 17. During these searches, officials seized a large amount of gold jewellery and Rs. 20 lakh in cash.

Meanwhile, the investigation revealed details of alleged illegal collections. It was confirmed that while working in Vemulawada, the officer had collected Rs. 10,000 per month from a jaggery merchant. The payments were reportedly made through Phone Pay. Therefore, officials are now examining the digital transaction trail as part of the probe.

Also, officials found the involvement of another person in the case. A government teacher is said to have acted as a mediator for the CI. This has widened the scope of the investigation. Authorities are now looking into the role of the mediator and other possible links.

However, the Anti Corruption Bureau has not disclosed further details at this stage. The focus remains on verifying financial records and tracing all transactions linked to the accused officer. Officials said they are continuing the probe to establish the full extent of the alleged corruption.
