Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the government does not want pilgrims to face hardship due to rising global fuel prices triggered by the ongoing US Iran conflict at a program at Haj house in nampally.

The increase in Hajj travel costs comes after global crude oil and aviation fuel prices surged because of tensions in the Middle East. Aviation experts said airlines across the world are facing higher operational expenses due to rising jet fuel costs and disruptions in international air routes.

Industry reports showed that jet fuel prices increased sharply after the conflict intensified earlier this year. Airlines are also dealing with airspace restrictions, longer travel routes, and higher insurance expenses. Consequently, several international carriers increased airfares and introduced fuel surcharges for passengers.

The conflict has affected oil supply movement near the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s key energy corridors. Analysts said disruptions in the region directly impact aviation fuel prices and airline ticket costs across global markets.

Rising aviation fuel prices impact Hajj travel

Several international airlines recently warned about rising fuel expenses linked to the US Iran conflict. Airline companies operating between Asia, Europe, and the Middle East are also facing route diversions and longer flying times. Therefore, airlines are spending more on fuel and operational management.

Travel experts said Hajj pilgrims are among the most affected groups because pilgrimage travel depends heavily on international flight connectivity to Saudi Arabia. As a result, airfare revisions increased the overall cost of Hajj packages in several countries, including India.

Despite the rise in costs, the Telangana government decided to absorb the additional financial burden on pilgrims from the state. Revanth Reddy recently assured that the government would continue extending support so pilgrims could complete the sacred journey without extra financial stress. Experts believe airfare volatility may continue if geopolitical tensions in the Middle East persist in the coming months.
