Hyderabad, May 11: Three persons sustained minor injuries after an oil tanker rammed into a car on the Vijayawada Hyderabad National Highway near Veliminedu in Chityala mandal of Nalgonda district on Monday.
According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred when the car was travelling from Nellore towards Sangareddy. During the journey, an oil tanker reportedly collided with the vehicle on the busy highway.
The impact of the collision was severe. Consequently, the oil tanker overturned and fell across the road, leading to heavy traffic disruption on the Vijayawada Hyderabad highway for some time. Motorists faced long traffic snarls as vehicles moved slowly on the affected stretch.

Soon after the accident, police officials rushed to the spot and launched rescue and traffic clearance operations. The injured passengers received immediate assistance and reportedly escaped with minor injuries.
Police personnel are currently working to remove the overturned tanker from the highway and restore smooth traffic movement. Authorities are also regulating vehicle flow to prevent further congestion in the area.
Meanwhile, officials have started an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. However, further details regarding the identities of the injured persons and the condition of the vehicles are still awaited.
The incident created panic among commuters travelling on the highway, which remains one of the busiest road corridors connecting Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
