Supreme Court To Hear Plea Against CBSE Three Language Policy
Delhi, May 22: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the new three language policy introduced by the Central Board of Secondary Education for Class 9 students.
The Public Interest Litigation was filed by students, teachers and parents against the CBSE decision making three languages compulsory for Classes 9 and 10 under the National Education Policy.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi mentioned the matter before a bench headed by Chief Justice of India Justice Suryakant.
Rohatgi argued that introducing the policy in the middle of the academic year would place additional academic and mental pressure on students. He said the sudden change had created confusion among schools, students and parents.
Petition Challenges Mid Year Implementation
According to the petitioners, the revised CBSE framework requires students to study three languages, including two Indian languages, in Classes 9 and 10.
The issue has sparked discussions among CBSE schools and parents across the country as educational institutions prepare for changes under the National Education Policy.
