BSNL Revenue Rises To Rs 25,000 Crore In Two Years

Delhi, May 26: State owned telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has recorded a major increase in revenue, reaching nearly Rs 25,000 crore over the last two years due to infrastructure upgrades and operational improvements.

According to an official statement released on Monday, BSNL’s revenue rose by around 19 percent during the period. The statement quoted Minister of State for Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, who spoke about the company’s financial turnaround in an interview with Prasar Bharati.

The minister said BSNL’s revenue increased from Rs 21,000 crore to Rs 25,000 crore within two years.

BSNL Focuses On Infrastructure And Indigenous 4G

Pemmasani said the company also witnessed a sharp rise in EBITDA, which grew from around Rs 50 crore to nearly Rs 7,000 crore, reflecting better operational efficiency and financial performance.

BSNL reported a total income of Rs 23,427 crore in FY25 compared to Rs 21,302 crore in FY24.

The minister said detailed reviews conducted along with Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia helped identify problems affecting the telecom company.

He noted that several infrastructure issues were addressed, especially in states like Andhra Pradesh. Officials replaced batteries in nearly 50,000 telecom towers, upgraded power systems and replaced old cables to improve tower uptime and network performance.

Pemmasani said BSNL continues to offer lower tariffs compared to private telecom operators. He added that one rupee SIM cards are being distributed through India Post offices to encourage more users to test the network.

The minister also highlighted the rapid rollout of indigenous 4G technology. He said BSNL launched indigenous 4G services across one lakh towers within a year and claimed India had become one of the few countries to develop advanced domestic 4G technology.
