Pemmasani said the company also witnessed a sharp rise in EBITDA, which grew from around Rs 50 crore to nearly Rs 7,000 crore, reflecting better operational efficiency and financial performance.
BSNL reported a total income of Rs 23,427 crore in FY25 compared to Rs 21,302 crore in FY24.
The minister said detailed reviews conducted along with Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia helped identify problems affecting the telecom company.
He noted that several infrastructure issues were addressed, especially in states like Andhra Pradesh. Officials replaced batteries in nearly 50,000 telecom towers, upgraded power systems and replaced old cables to improve tower uptime and network performance.
Pemmasani said BSNL continues to offer lower tariffs compared to private telecom operators. He added that one rupee SIM cards are being distributed through India Post offices to encourage more users to test the network.
The minister also highlighted the rapid rollout of indigenous 4G technology. He said BSNL launched indigenous 4G services across one lakh towers within a year and claimed India had become one of the few countries to develop advanced domestic 4G technology.
