Hyderabad, May 26 (Maxim News) : Former Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday said the BRS government played a key role in protecting the self respect and rights of the Lambada community in Telangana.
Participating in a Maha Dharna organised by the Lambadi Hakkula Porata Samithi in Hyderabad, Harish Rao said the credit for converting even small tandas into gram panchayats goes to the BRS government led by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
He stated that KCR worked for the welfare and dignity of tribal communities and ensured political and social recognition for Lambadas in the State.
Harish Rao said the previous BRS government celebrated Sant Sevalal Maharaj Jayanti as an official State festival and constructed an Atmagaurava Bhavan for the Banjara community in Banjara Hills.
He said the TS Pride initiative provided jobs to 13,200 people and added that degree colleges were established for SC and ST girl students during the BRS regime.
The former minister also highlighted welfare corporations created for tribal communities and said the BRS government strengthened institutions such as the Sevalal Corporation, Komaram Bheem Corporation and Ekalavya Corporation.
Harish Rao accused the Congress government of neglecting Scheduled Tribe welfare during the last two and a half years.
He alleged that the present government had not released even a single rupee to the Sevalal, Komaram Bheem and Ekalavya corporations.
“The Congress government has cheated ST communities for the last two and a half years,” he alleged.
The BRS leader assured that his party would continue to fight for the rights, welfare and self respect of tribal communities across Telangana.(Maxim News)
