Hyderabad, June 4: Two parked cars were gutted in a fire after garbage was allegedly set ablaze in an open space at Boduppal in Medchal district on Thursday.
According to local residents, unidentified persons set fire to a heap of garbage and left the area. The flames quickly spread and engulfed two vehicles parked nearby, causing extensive damage.
After noticing the fire, residents alerted the fire department. Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control before it could spread further.
One of the vehicle owners said the fire from the burning garbage reached the parked car and rapidly consumed it. He stated that the vehicle was less than a year old and suffered complete damage in the incident.
No injuries were reported in the fire. However, both vehicles were severely damaged.
Police and fire officials have advised motorists to remain cautious while parking vehicles near garbage dumps and vacant plots, especially during the summer season when fire incidents are more likely to occur.
Authorities are gathering information about the incident. The identity of those who allegedly set the garbage on fire is yet to be established.
