Hyderabad, June 24: A head constable died and a home guard suffered serious injuries after their bike hit a parked lorry on National Highway 161 near Pedda Kodapgal in Kamareddy district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Rajkumar, a head constable posted at Pitlam police station. The injured home guard, Madhu, was shifted to a hospital for treatment after locals rushed to help.
Police said the two were travelling from Madnur to Pitlam on a motorcycle when the accident occurred. Their bike rammed into a lorry parked on the roadside along NH 161.

Rajkumar died on the spot due to severe injuries, while Madhu sustained serious injuries in the collision. Locals who noticed the accident alerted the police and arranged for the injured home guard to be taken to a nearby hospital.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident. Further details on the condition of the injured home guard were not immediately available.
The incident has once again raised concerns over the dangers posed by parked heavy vehicles on highways, especially during night travel or low visibility conditions.
NH 161 passes through several parts of Kamareddy district and is a busy route used by commercial and passenger vehicles. Police are expected to examine whether the parked lorry had proper warning indicators in place at the time of the accident.
The tragic death of the head constable has also cast a shadow over the local police department, where Rajkumar was serving at Pitlam police station.
