Sanjay Jaju Takes Charge as Telangana Chief Secretary

Sanjay Jaju | Hyderabad, June 30 (Maxim News) : Senior IAS officer Sanjay Jaju on Tuesday assumed charge as the new Chief Secretary of Telangana at the State Secretariat. He succeeds A. Ramakrishna Rao, who retires from service today after completing his tenure as the state’s top bureaucrat.

The Telangana government recently issued orders appointing Sanjay Jaju as the new Chief Secretary. His appointment marks the beginning of a new administrative phase, as he is expected to remain in office until February 2029.

A 1992-batch IAS officer, Sanjay Jaju brings more than three decades of administrative experience. He started his career as the Sub Collector of Vijayawada. Later, he served in several key positions in the undivided Andhra Pradesh.

He worked as the District Collector of West Godavari. In addition, he served as Additional Commissioner and later Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). He also held the post of Commissioner of the Civil Supplies Department and earned recognition for administrative reforms.

After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, Jaju moved to Central deputation. Since then, he has served in several important ministries of the Government of India. His experience at both the state and central levels is expected to strengthen governance in Telangana.

Meanwhile, senior IAS officers and Secretariat officials welcomed Sanjay Jaju after he assumed office. They extended their best wishes as he began his tenure as the state’s highest-ranking civil servant.

Moreover, officials expect his long tenure to provide administrative stability and continuity in implementing government policies. His experience in urban development, public administration, and governance is likely to help accelerate several ongoing development initiatives across the state.

The change in leadership comes at a significant time as the Telangana government focuses on infrastructure development, welfare schemes, industrial growth, and administrative reforms. Therefore, Jaju is expected to play a key role in coordinating policy implementation across departments.
