Shabbir Ali | Nizamabad, June 30 (Maxim News): Government Adviser Mohammed Ali Shabbir said that the Congress Government in Telangana was committed to the welfare of minorities and poor families through self-employment and financial assistance schemes.
He attended two programmes in Nizamabad on Tuesday, where sewing machines were distributed to minority women and Chief Minister’s Relief Fund cheques were handed over to eligible beneficiaries.
At a programme organised by the Telangana Minorities Finance Corporation at the NAC Centre, Shabbir Ali distributed sewing machines to eligible minority women. He said the government was taking special measures to economically empower minority women and help them lead a dignified life through self-employment.
Shabbir Ali said 1,700 sewing machines were being distributed in Nizamabad district at a cost of Rs 1.02 crore. Of these, 500 machines were given to women from the Nizamabad Urban constituency. The scheme would help several families secure steady livelihood opportunities, he said.
He said the government, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, was giving top priority to minority welfare. Several programmes were being implemented in education, employment, self-employment and skill development for the uplift of minorities.

He said the Congress government was standing by poor people who could not afford costly medical treatment. The government’s aim was to treat people’s difficulties as its own and extend help to them in times of need, he said.
