Hyderabad, August 19: A Hyderabad court convicted 33 persons in a POCSO and PITA case investigated by the Telangana CID.
The court sentenced five accused to life imprisonment and others to varying prison terms.
The case was registered in 2015 after a victim approached the CID on July 17.
According to CID officials, a man from her village promised to arrange employment for her.
She was later introduced to three persons and taken to different places.
The victim alleged that she was forced into prostitution and subjected to physical and sexual abuse.
CID Rescues Nine Minor Girls During Raids
The victim reportedly remained under their control for about four months before escaping.
She then approached the CID, following which officials registered a case and conducted raids.
During the raids, police apprehended 45 persons and rescued nine minor girls and other victims.
Police also seized material linked to the alleged offences.
After completing the investigation, the CID filed a charge sheet before the court.
Following the trial, Special Sessions Judge Uday Bhaskar Rao convicted 33 persons.
Five accused received life imprisonment, while three were sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment.
Meanwhile, 14 accused received 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and 11 were sentenced to three years.
The court also ordered Rs 5 lakh compensation each for nine victim girls.
The compensation was awarded for the physical and mental trauma suffered by the victims.
