Telangana Cabinet Approves Rs 7,345 Crore Musi Rejuvenation Project Phase One

Hyderabad: The Telangana Cabinet on Thursday approved the first phase of the Musi Rejuvenation Project, clearing proposals to invite tenders for works covering a 21 km stretch at an estimated cost of Rs 7,345 crore.

The decision was taken despite opposition from various quarters. The first phase will cover the stretch from Himayath Sagar to the confluence of River Esa and from Osman Sagar to the Musi River confluence at Bapu Ghat.

Cabinet Clears Health, Education and Infrastructure Proposals

To ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the project, the Cabinet approved the creation of 147 posts. The government also decided to deploy additional personnel on deputation if required.

Addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the state had accepted the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission Grameen (VB GRAMG) scheme. However, the government would approach the Supreme Court to seek clarity on certain conditions attached to its implementation.

The Cabinet also approved the extension of free mid day meals, milk and snacks to nearly 1.5 lakh teachers, lecturers and non teaching staff, in addition to students studying up to Class 12 in government educational institutions.

In the healthcare sector, the government sanctioned 6,278 posts for Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) hospitals at Sanathnagar, LB Nagar and Alwal, as well as the super speciality hospital in Warangal. The Cabinet also approved the processing of Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) Letters of Credit at these hospitals.

The Cabinet further approved the allotment of land for warehouse construction in several Assembly constituencies. It allotted 50 acres at Bollikunta in Warangal and 10 acres at Kakarlapahad in Rangareddy to the Telangana State Warehousing Corporation.

Additionally, 20 acres at Peddaipally in Mahabubnagar district and 19 acres at Kodad in Suryapet district were allotted for the establishment of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. Another five acres at Chalgal in Jagtial district was approved for setting up a Kendriya Vidyalaya.
