Hyderabad, July 7 (Maxim News): Telangana is positioning itself as a global leader in responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) by balancing technological growth with environmental sustainability and social responsibility, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Tuesday.
He stated that the state is not merely attracting investments but is creating a model that could guide AI development across the world.
Bhatti Vikramarka, along with Industries and IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, inaugurated the two day Green Growth Economic Summit – The Hyderabad Collective at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC).
The summit has been organised by The Meridian Collective and brings together delegates from several countries to discuss sustainable economic growth and emerging technologies.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister said AI is much more than cloud computing and data centres. It also depends on critical resources such as electricity, water, land, and skilled human capital.
He said Telangana is promoting renewable energy, efficient resource management, and sustainable infrastructure while expanding its AI ecosystem. As a result, the state is demonstrating how advanced technologies can grow without putting excessive pressure on natural resources.
Bhatti Vikramarka stressed that Telangana welcomes investments that benefit both industry and society. He said companies setting up operations in the state should contribute to local skill development, use clean energy, and rely on recycled water wherever possible.
“Responsible AI is not just about engineering efficiency. It reflects our commitment to sustainable development and people centric governance,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister said Telangana has introduced the concept of People’s Credit, which goes beyond the global focus on carbon credits.
He explained that AI investments should generate local employment, strengthen rural skills, and improve livelihoods instead of limiting benefits to technology companies alone. According to him, industries must not only reduce emissions but also invest in enhancing local intellectual capital.
He added that Telangana’s investor friendly policies, transparent governance, and human centric development model have significantly boosted investor confidence.
Bhatti Vikramarka assured that AI expansion would never come at the cost of agriculture or public water needs.
He said Telangana will encourage AI projects that adopt responsible water management practices while ensuring adequate resources for farmers and citizens. Furthermore, he noted that AI should overcome language barriers and create employment opportunities for rural youth across the state, from Mahabubabad to Adilabad.
The Deputy Chief Minister credited Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s leadership for driving Telangana’s scientific and technological progress. He said the state is following a development path envisioned by former national leaders while adapting it to future technologies.
He concluded that Hyderabad has evolved beyond being a destination for data centres and is now emerging as a global model for responsible AI development. He expressed confidence that organisations combining artificial intelligence with human wisdom would lead the next phase of global innovation, and Telangana is preparing to play a leading role.
