Hyderabad, July 8: Godrej Agrovet will set up Telangana’s first private integrated oil palm complex in Khammam district with an investment of Rs 300 crore. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reviewed the project with senior company officials on Wednesday.
Godrej Industries Group President for Corporate Affairs Rakesh Swamy and Godrej Agrovet Oil Palm Business CEO Sougatho Niyogi met the Chief Minister at Bodhi Pavilion in MCRHRD and presented plans for expanding oil palm cultivation in Telangana.
The Rs 300 crore Telangana oil palm project will come up in Gubbagurthi village of Konijarla mandal in Khammam district. The integrated facility is expected to generate employment for more than 700 people.
The Telangana government has already allotted 113.5 acres of land for the project. The complex will include an oil palm processing unit, a nursery, a research and development centre, and a seed garden.
Company representatives requested an additional 35 to 40 acres for expanding the seed garden. They also sought road widening to improve access to the proposed processing mill.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed the concerned officials to take up the road widening works through the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) to facilitate the project’s implementation.
