Hyderabad, July 8: BRS leader and former minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to make public any agreement with the Maharashtra government on the proposed Tummidi Hatti project. He said he was ready to resign if such an agreement existed.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao questioned the Congress government’s claims regarding the Tummidi Hatti project. He asked whether Maharashtra had agreed to increase the project’s height to 152 metres.
Harish Rao said he would resign if the government produced the alleged Tummidi Hatti agreement. He also demanded that the Chief Minister apologise to the people of Telangana if no such agreement existed.
The BRS leader alleged that the Congress had promised to construct the Tummidi Hatti project in its election manifesto but had made no visible progress after coming to power.
He questioned why the Telangana Chief Minister had not met his Maharashtra counterpart on the issue over the past two and a half years. He also alleged that the government had failed to make serious efforts to move the project forward.
Harish Rao claimed that during the previous BRS government, then Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, engineers, and ministers had held meetings with Maharashtra authorities soon after the government assumed office to discuss the project.
He further alleged that the present government had not taken similar initiatives and accused it of delaying action on the inter state irrigation project.
