Hyderabad, July 12: The Hyderabad Traffic Police booked 478 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol during a two-day special enforcement drive conducted on July 10 and 11 as part of its ongoing efforts to improve road safety and curb drunken driving across the city.
Police said the special drive will continue in the coming days under its zero-tolerance policy against drunk driving.
According to the Traffic Police, the offenders included:
- 398 two-wheeler riders
- 42 three-wheeler drivers
- 38 four-wheeler and other vehicle drivers
Officials said two-wheeler riders accounted for the overwhelming majority of drunken driving violations detected during the enforcement campaign.
14 Drivers Recorded BAC Above 300
The breath analyser tests revealed the following Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels among the offenders:
- 30–50 BAC: 97 cases
- 51–100 BAC: 197 cases
- 101–150 BAC: 92 cases
- 151–200 BAC: 54 cases
- 201–250 BAC: 20 cases
- 251–300 BAC: 4 cases
- Above 300 BAC: 14 cases
Traffic Police officials said the highest number of violations fell in the 51–100 BAC category.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police reiterated that it will continue to conduct special enforcement drives across the city to deter motorists from driving under the influence of alcohol.
Officials appealed to commuters not to consume alcohol before driving and urged the public to cooperate with the Traffic Police in ensuring safer roads and reducing accidents caused by drunken driving.
