Hyderabad: Police are investigating the alleged suicide attempt of trainee Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Uday Krishna Reddy, who recently came under scrutiny following a sexual harassment complaint filed by a fellow IPS probationer.
The trainee officer was admitted to a private hospital in SR Nagar after reportedly consuming a suspected poisonous substance. Doctors treated him, and his condition is now stated to be stable.
Police Examine Circumstances Behind Alleged Suicide Attempt
While the incident was initially treated as an attempted suicide, investigators are now examining whether it was a genuine attempt to end his life or an act intended to influence the ongoing criminal investigation against him.
According to sources, preliminary medical findings reportedly did not detect any poison or toxic substance in his blood or urine samples. However, tests allegedly indicated a high level of alcohol in his system. Police are awaiting the final forensic and medical reports before drawing any conclusions.
The alleged suicide attempt came shortly after the Attapur Police registered a criminal case against Uday Krishna Reddy based on a complaint filed by a fellow IPS trainee on Saturday.
In her complaint, the woman accused the officer of sexual harassment, stalking, criminal intimidation, and repeated harassment through phone calls and messages despite her objections. She also alleged that his actions caused her severe mental distress.
As part of the investigation, police are collecting electronic evidence, including mobile phone records, digital communications, and other forensic material, to establish the sequence of events. Statements of the complainant, the accused officer, and other persons connected to the case are also being recorded.
Meanwhile, Uday Krishna Reddy has denied all the allegations. In a post on social media, he claimed that the complaint filed against him is fabricated.
Police said the investigation is continuing, and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected.
