Hyderabad: Telangana is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall over the next seven days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). After days of warm weather, widespread showers across the State have brought down temperatures, providing much-needed relief from the heat.
Moderate to heavy rainfall was recorded across Hyderabad and several districts during the past 24 hours. Due to persistent cloud cover and wet conditions, daytime temperatures have dropped significantly. In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature is expected to remain between 22°C and 24°C, compared to around 33°C recorded just a few days ago.
Metpalle records highest rainfall in Telangana
Among the districts, Metpalle in Jagtial recorded the highest rainfall at 77.8 mm, followed by the Sangareddy Collectorate area with 71.8 mm and Shankerpalle in Rangareddy district with 70.8 mm.
In the Hyderabad metropolitan region, Kistareddypet in Ameenpur received 45.3 mm of rainfall. Other areas that witnessed significant showers included Ramachandrapuram (BHEL) with 44.8 mm, Hayathnagar with 38 mm, Patancheru Tahsil Office with 37.8 mm, and the MMTS Lingampally area with 36.8 mm.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds of 30–40 kmph across isolated parts of all Telangana districts during the next seven days. Residents have been advised to remain cautious, particularly in areas vulnerable to waterlogging, traffic congestion and strong winds.
For Hyderabad, the weather department has predicted light rain or drizzle over the next 48 hours, with cloudy skies expected to persist. Maximum temperatures are likely to hover around 32°C, while minimum temperatures may remain close to 24°C.
With the southwest monsoon remaining active, Telangana is expected to witness intermittent rainfall throughout the week. The IMD has advised commuters and residents to monitor the latest weather updates and plan travel accordingly.
