Hyderabad, July 30: Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Thursday directed all department officials to remain in the field as heavy rains continued to affect several parts of the State for the second consecutive day.
During a review meeting with Roads and Buildings (R&B) officials, the minister assessed the condition of roads, bridges, culverts and low causeways across various districts and instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted public movement.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy directed officials to make alternative traffic arrangements in flood affected areas to minimise inconvenience to commuters.
He also instructed authorities to install danger warning boards at submerged culverts, low causeways and damaged road stretches to prevent accidents.
The minister asked officials to take all necessary safety measures at roads and bridges currently under construction and ensure that ongoing works do not pose risks during the rains.
He directed field officers to coordinate closely with the Revenue, Police, Electricity and Irrigation departments for an effective response to rain related emergencies.
The minister also ordered officials to submit daily field reports and announced that mobile conference calls would be held regularly with field engineers to monitor the situation.
Komatireddy instructed all Roads and Buildings officials, from the Engineer in Chief (ENC) to Assistant Engineers (AE), to remain on full alert until weather conditions improve.
