New Delhi, August 9: The BJP launched the Tiranga Yatra across several states on Sunday, August 9, ahead of the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
Party leaders said the campaign honours freedom fighters and highlights the Tricolour as a symbol of national pride. The rallies also seek to encourage public participation in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav joined the rally. He said citizens should remember the sacrifices of revolutionaries, martyrs and freedom fighters.
Yadav also linked the campaign to the Quit India movement. He said patriotic citizens should remember those who fought for India’s independence.
In Uttar Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said August 9 also marks Kakori Train Action Day. He said large numbers of young people joined rallies across the state.
Pathak said participants took a pledge to carry the Tricolour from booth to booth. He also described the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign as successful in Uttar Pradesh.
BJP Tiranga Yatra honours freedom fighters
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also joined a rally earlier on Sunday. He said young people can help the country face future challenges.
Yogi said youth need the right platform to develop their skills. He also stressed the value of traditional education alongside modern opportunities.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Minister Jogaram Patel joined a rally in Jodhpur. He said the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign would continue across Rajasthan during Independence Day week.
Patel said the Tricolour represents patriotism and the principle of putting the nation first. He also said the campaign remembers the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
In Jharkhand, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth participated in the event in Ranchi. He said the campaign promotes the spirit of Nation First.
Jharkhand BJP president Aditya Sahu said millions had sacrificed for the Tricolour. He also highlighted the hardships faced by families of freedom fighters.
In West Bengal, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh joined a rally in Kharagpur. He said the campaign would reach other districts across the state.
Ghosh also said the Tricolour would reach homes across Bengal. He announced a major carnival in Kolkata on August 10.
The BJP said the nationwide rallies form part of preparations for Independence Day. The campaign also aims to connect citizens, especially young people, with the country’s freedom struggle.
The events come as political parties and governments prepare for Independence Day celebrations across the country. The BJP Tiranga Yatra will continue through different states as part of the wider campaign.
