Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to expedite Metro Rail Phase-II works on the Old City stretch following the Telangana High Court’s decision to vacate the stay on land acquisition.
At a review meeting with senior Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) officials on Tuesday, Revanth Reddy reviewed the progress of the proposed expansion and pending land acquisition.
The Chief Minister directed officials to speed up road widening works along the 7.5-km MGBS-Chandrayangutta corridor. He also asked them to initiate the tender process for Metro works on the stretch.
He sought details of pending land acquisition and instructed officials to finalise the Metro expansion plans at the earliest.
Revanth Reddy Pushes Metro Phase-II Expansion
For the MGBS-Chandrayangutta corridor, Revanth Reddy directed officials to consult Delhi Metro on the appropriate technology for the proposed project.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the rising passenger load on Hyderabad Metro. With ridership steadily increasing, he asked officials to take measures to handle the additional demand.
He suggested procuring additional Metro coaches to improve passenger capacity and ease pressure on the existing network.
The directions come a day after the Telangana High Court vacated its stay on land acquisition for Metro Phase-II, potentially clearing a major hurdle for the expansion works.
Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy reviewed preparations for the Invest Telangana Global Summit scheduled for December.
He directed officials to organise the summit to international standards and focus on attracting global investments to Telangana.
The meeting also discussed organisational arrangements and plans to honour prominent personalities from different business sectors.
The Chief Minister asked officials to submit a detailed report on investments attracted and progress made following last year’s summit.
He further directed officials to prepare strategies to increase investment inflows into the State through the upcoming global summit.
