The Opposition has demanded Shah’s presence in Parliament and a statement on the police action over the NEET paper leak protest.

The dispute has repeatedly disrupted the Monsoon Session. Shah accused the Opposition of preventing Parliament from functioning.

Speaking to reporters, Shah said he had attended Parliament regularly since the session began.

Shah Offers 24 Hour Window For Discussion

Shah said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju had already confirmed the government’s willingness to hold a detailed discussion.

He said the government had accepted the Opposition’s original demand. Shah also reiterated that he was ready to answer questions in Parliament.

The Home Minister proposed a discussion from 3 pm Wednesday to 3 pm Thursday.

He said the Opposition should submit a letter to the Speaker by 2 pm to enable the discussion.

Shah said he would listen to the Opposition and respond to every issue raised during the debate.

He also said the government had nothing to hide and called for Parliament to function normally.

Meanwhile, Shah said the student protest and police action required a detailed discussion rather than a brief statement.

He said such a debate would allow Parliament to examine all aspects of the incident.
