Hyderabad, August 24 (Maxim News): Goshamahal police arrested five people for allegedly detaining two men over a financial dispute and assaulting them in Begumbazar.
Police said the accused also demanded cash, a car and an auto from the victims.
The incident reportedly took place on August 20 at a warehouse linked to Vinod Impex in Begumbazar.
According to Inspector Sravan, the victims, Mohammed Akbar and Mohammed Aleem, had purchased dry fruits from Karan Kumar for nearly two years. The dispute reportedly began after the accused alleged that the victims had committed financial irregularities worth Rs.8 lakh through forgery.
The accused allegedly took the two men to a warehouse and confined them there. They then allegedly attacked the victims with steel pipes.
The accused also demanded Rs.2 lakh in cash, along with a car and an auto, to release them, police said.
The situation reportedly escalated when the victims’ parents arrived at the location. The accused allegedly detained them as well.
The victims later left the location and received treatment at Osmania General Hospital. They then approached the Goshamahal police and submitted a complaint.
Goshamahal police arrest five as probe continues
Based on the complaint, Goshamahal police registered a case and launched an investigation. Officers later took five suspects into custody.
Police identified the arrested suspects as Karan Kumar of Joshivadi, Hanuman Ram of Joshivadi, Devi Lal of Labour Adda, Shambhu Kumar of MJ Bridge and Jumar alias Jumar Gurjar of Labour Adda.
During the investigation, police seized two mobile phones, two cars and one auto from the accused. The court later remanded the five accused to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, police said six more suspects remain absconding. They identified them as Shubham Parihar, Tarun, Manish, Praveen, Pankaj and Datta. Police teams are searching for them as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case highlights the risks involved when private parties attempt to settle financial disputes through force or unlawful detention. Police said disputes over money must follow legal channels instead of threats or physical attacks.
Inspector Sravan warned that police would take strict action against anyone who allegedly takes the law into their own hands. He also urged people to approach the police when financial disputes turn into threats, coercion or violence.
The investigation will establish the exact role of each accused and determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged detention and assault. Police are also continuing efforts to trace the remaining suspects.
