Hyderabad, August 29: Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy has made critical remarks about the Congress government and party affairs.
He said the government still has substantial work to complete after two and a half years in office. He also called for visible changes in the functioning of the government and the Cabinet.
Sukhender Reddy said indiscipline has emerged as a concern within the Congress party. He warned that continued factional disputes could cause serious political damage.
He called for strict action against leaders who cross party lines. According to him, stronger discipline could help the party address internal differences.
The Council Chairman also urged the government to implement its promise to increase pensions. He stressed the need to continue the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
Sukhender Reddy further demanded the cancellation of the controversial 22A rule. He said the government should address concerns surrounding the provision.
Gutta Calls for Cadre Balance and CM Support
Sukhender Reddy also spoke about the party cadre and government policies. He suggested reducing unnecessary free schemes while ensuring justice for Telangana statehood activists.
He said the Congress leadership must address growing dissatisfaction among workers who supported the party for years.
He warned that the party could face difficulties in future elections if it fails to resolve these concerns. At the same time, he said proper corrective measures could help Congress retain power.
Most importantly, Sukhender Reddy called for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to get greater freedom to run the government.
He said creating obstacles for the Chief Minister would not serve the government’s interests. Instead, he urged all sections of the party to support Revanth Reddy so that administration can function smoothly.
His remarks come as the Congress government completes two and a half years in Telangana. They also highlight concerns over party discipline, internal coordination and the expectations of its cadre.
The comments are likely to add to discussions within the Telangana Congress about governance and organisational management.
