Hyderabad, September 1: Vijay Mohan Raj has been unanimously elected Chairman of the Travel Agents Association of India AP and Telangana Chapter.
His election comes as TAAI marks its 75th year of representing India’s travel trade. Raj returns to the association’s leadership after a gap of 20 years.
TAAI, established in 1951, represents travel agents and travel trade professionals across India. The association has played a key role in strengthening the country’s travel and tourism sector.
Raj brings more than four decades of experience in the travel and tourism industry. He has also held leadership positions at national and international levels.
His election also adds to his record of leadership in the global travel industry. Raj was elected an International Director of SKÅL International. He became the third Indian to hold the prestigious position, according to the organisation.
SKÅL International represents travel and tourism professionals across nearly 90 countries. Raj earlier served as President of SKÅL Hyderabad from 2014 to 2018.
He also chaired the SKÅL World Congress held in Hyderabad. The event brought an international tourism gathering to the city.

Speaking after his election, Raj said he felt honoured by the confidence shown by TAAI members. He also described his return to the association’s leadership during its 75th year as a major responsibility.
Raj said the travel industry is undergoing rapid change. Technology, changing traveller preferences and stronger connectivity continue to reshape the sector.
New tourism segments are also creating fresh opportunities for travel businesses. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, in particular, have significant potential in domestic and international tourism.
Hyderabad has emerged as an important centre for business travel and MICE tourism. The city also has a growing presence in leisure and medical tourism.
As chairman, Raj is expected to work on several areas. These include stronger coordination among travel agents, new business opportunities and professional development.
He is also expected to focus on industry advocacy and tourism promotion. Engagement with governments, airlines and tourism organisations will form another important area.
Raj’s experience with both TAAI and SKÅL International could help strengthen the chapter’s national and international outlook.
