NIA Joins Probe Into Missing Army Weapons

Hyderabad, Sept. 6: The National Investigation Agency has reportedly joined the probe into missing service weapons from Army premises in Hyderabad.

Telangana Police’s Counter Intelligence Cell is already investigating the case. Meanwhile, the NIA has sought details from Hyderabad Police and Army officials in the Cantonment area.

According to sources, Army Intelligence, the NIA, the CI Cell and Hyderabad Police are working on the case. Officials are questioning suspects and examining digital evidence for further leads.

NIA Examines Digital Evidence in Weapons Case

Investigators are examining mobile phone data, social media accounts and WhatsApp chats linked to suspects, sources said.

Cyber experts have reportedly retrieved data from some mobile phones. The agencies are also examining social media posts and other digital information as part of the probe.

The investigation began after at least 12 service weapons and ammunition were reported missing from the Madras Regiment premises in the Army locality of Cantonment.

Following complaints from Army officials, Bollarum Police registered cases. Multiple agencies are now working to determine how the weapons went missing and identify those responsible.
