Hyderabad, Sept. 10: Police detained several BRS and BRSV leaders in the early hours of Thursday amid the ongoing Telangana Assembly session.
The action came amid reports that BRS and BRSV leaders were planning to lay siege to the Assembly.
The reported protest followed the suspension of BRS MLAs from the Assembly.
BRS Leaders Face Preventive Action Amid Protests
BRSV State president Gellu Srinivas Yadav said police placed him under house arrest around 5 am.
He said police also visited the homes of several BRSV student leaders and detained them.
Yadav said BRSV had not called for an Assembly bandh. He condemned the detentions and demanded the immediate release of those held.
Meanwhile, Karkhana Circle Inspector Anuradha and her team reportedly reached the residence of BRS spokesperson Manne Krishank.
Police reportedly sought to take Krishank into preventive detention. However, he was not at home at the time.
According to the report, police stopped his seven year old daughter while she was leaving for an examination.
They also reportedly took a relative’s phone during the incident.
The preventive action comes amid heightened political activity during the ongoing Assembly session.
