Hyderabad, Sept. 10: Police arrested a farmer for allegedly cultivating ganja as an intercrop in his cotton field in Adilabad.
Police seized 128 ganja plants worth Rs 12.50 lakh and a two wheeler from him.
Ichoda Rural Inspector Ch Ramesh said police arrested Ade Kapil from Borigaon village on Wednesday.
Police said Kapil cultivated the ganja plants on 3.5 acres of cotton farmland.
Adilabad Farmer Held in Ganja Cultivation Case
Investigators said Kapil allegedly confessed to cultivating ganja after suffering losses from cotton farming.
He reportedly told police that he took up ganja cultivation to meet his financial needs.
Police said Kapil cultivated the crop with his wife. The land was registered in her name.
Police registered a case against Kapil and launched further investigation.
