NIMS Conducts Complex Heart Surgeries On 19 Children

Hyderabad, Sept. 12: NIMS conducted complex heart surgeries on 19 children during its fifth Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Camp.

The camp was organised by the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences.

More than 1,000 children also received outpatient consultations from a specialised medical team from the UK and NIMS.

The UK team was led by paediatric cardiac surgeon Dr Ramana Dhannapuneni and senior NIMS cardiologists.

NIMS Pediatric Cardiac Camp Expands Advanced Care

Children identified for surgery during outpatient services will be admitted to NIMS in subsequent phases.

The camp was organised in partnership with the Healing Little Hearts Organisation.

It also introduced ECMO services at NIMS under the Aarogyasri scheme for the first time.

During the camp, UK specialists visited patients at their bedsides and provided medical advice and consultations.

All medical services offered during the camp were free under Aarogyasri.

NIMS Director Dr Rahul Devraj said the camp marked another milestone in advanced pediatric cardiac healthcare.

The institute also felicitated participating medical experts, including CT Surgery department head Dr M Amaresh Rao.
