Hyderabad, Sept. 14: Telangana power distribution companies have made arrangements to provide free electricity to Ganesh pandals across the state.
The arrangements follow directions from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Power officials have also planned round the clock monitoring during the festival.
Southern Discom Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil reviewed the arrangements on Sunday. He visited the Khairatabad and Balapur Ganesh pandals in Hyderabad.
During the visits, Patil met members of the Ganesh Utsav committees. He discussed electricity supply, backup systems and emergency response measures with the organisers.
Officials will monitor the power infrastructure continuously during the festival. The monitoring will begin when organisers install the idols and continue until the immersion processions end.
The power distribution companies have also focused on safety at the pandals. Officials want organisers to avoid practices that could create risks during the celebrations.
Ganesh Pandals Get Round the Clock Power Monitoring
At the Balapur pandal, Patil said officials would designate an officer for each pandal. The officer will monitor power supply around the clock.
The move aims to ensure quick action if organisers face a power related problem. It will also help officials respond to emergencies during crowded festival periods.
Patil appealed to Ganesh Utsav organisers to follow electrical safety measures. He specifically warned them against directly hooking into electricity lines.
Direct hooking can create serious electrical hazards, he said. Organisers should instead use the authorised power supply arrangements made by the distribution companies.
The officials also reviewed backup systems at the pandals. They discussed emergency response mechanisms with the festival committees.
The arrangements cover the period from idol installation through the immersion processions. This period often requires continuous attention to electricity supply and public safety.
Ganesh Pandal Safety Measures Strengthened
Patil urged organisers and members of the public to report electricity related emergencies promptly. Consumers can contact the TGSPDCL helpline at 1912 for assistance.
The department has also provided a WhatsApp service for emergency complaints. The designated WhatsApp number is 8712441912.
The helpline and WhatsApp service will help people report power related issues during the celebrations. Officials can then coordinate with field teams for a response.
The Khairatabad and Balapur visits also allowed officials to assess arrangements at two prominent Ganesh festival locations. The review covered electricity supply and safety measures.
The state power distribution companies will continue monitoring the arrangements throughout the festival period. Officials will also remain available to address emergencies reported by organisers and the public.
The focus on free power supply and continuous monitoring comes as Telangana prepares for large scale Ganesh celebrations. Officials have asked organisers to cooperate with power teams and follow safety measures.
