Danam Nagender | Hyderabad, Sept. 18 (Maxim News): Disqualified Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender has responded to the Telangana High Court verdict disqualifying him from the Assembly.
Nagender said he welcomed the High Court’s verdict. He also said he had not yet decided whether to approach the Supreme Court against the order and would discuss the matter before taking a decision.
The High Court on Friday disqualified Nagender as Khairatabad MLA under the anti-defection law and declared the Assembly seat vacant. The court also declined his lawyers’ request to keep the order in abeyance to facilitate an appeal.
Danam Nagender Says Ready to Face Khairatabad By-Election
Responding to the verdict, Nagender said political battles were not new to him. He said he had reached his present position after facing several political challenges.
Nagender said he welcomed the prospect of a by-election in Khairatabad. He added that he was ready to face the election whenever the schedule was announced.
He said contesting elections and fighting political battles were familiar to him. Nagender expressed confidence that he would contest again and emerge victorious.
The High Court’s order followed petitions filed by BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and BJP MLA Aleti Maheshwar Reddy challenging the Assembly Speaker’s decision in the defection case. The court set aside the Speaker’s order and declared Nagender disqualified with effect from April 23, 2024.

Dannam’s remarks come shortly after the court ruling, with the Khairatabad Assembly seat now vacant. The Election Commission will have to take the next steps regarding the electoral process. (Maxim News)
