Hyderabad: An undertrial prisoner allegedly escaped from the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) at Erragadda on Monday afternoon while undergoing treatment after being brought from Chanchalguda Central Jail.
The escaped prisoner was identified as Kishore Kumar Reddy, 22, a resident of Gandhi Malla village in Amarachintha mandal, police said.
According to police, Reddy was lodged at Chanchalguda Jail and had been shifted to the mental health facility for medical treatment.
Prisoner Escapes Through Hospital Ventilator
During his stay at the hospital, Reddy reportedly sought permission to use the toilet. Police said he allegedly escaped through a ventilator while he was away from the ward.
The escape came to light after hospital authorities noticed that he was missing and alerted the police.
A case has been registered in connection with the incident. Police have launched an investigation and are making efforts to trace and apprehend the escaped undertrial prisoner.
