GATE 2027 | Hyderabad, Sept. 28 (Maxim News): GATE 2027 registration has been extended by IIT Madras, giving candidates a fresh window to apply with a late fee until October 5, 2026.
The original deadline closed on September 27, 2026. Candidates who missed it can still register through the official GATE portal before the new closing date.
GATE is conducted for admissions to MTech and PhD programmes at IITs across India for the 2027-28 academic year. The exam will be held across six dates: February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027.
Candidates who have already applied and need to correct errors can do so between October 14 and October 21, 2026. City intimation slips will be released on January 4, 2027.
GATE 2027 Applicants Must Link DigiLocker Account Before Registering on Portal
IIT Madras has made DigiLocker account linking mandatory for all GATE 2027 applicants.
Candidates must create or update their DigiLocker account before beginning registration. During the process, they must link it to the portal.
Once permission is granted, the portal automatically fetches verified personal details. These include the applicant’s name, date of birth, profile photo, verified identity document number, email address, mobile number and home address. IIT Madras said this makes the application process faster and more accurate. (Maxim News)
