Telangana Assembly dissolved; Stage set for early polls in Telangana
- TRS Govt Ruled 4 yrs 3 months 4 days i.e. 1546 days
Hyderabad, Sept.6 (Maxim News): The TRS Government headed by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday dissolved the Legislative Assembly, the first after the formation of Telangana, to pave for early elections in the state.
The State Cabinet meeting, chaired by the Chief Minister in Pragati Bhavan this afternoon, passed a one-line resolution recommending for the dissolution of the Assembly, nine months earlier than its tenure, thus drawing the curtain down on the fortnight-long intense political drama and unprecedented suspense in this regard.
Governor E S L Narasimhan on receiving the State Cabinet resolution, handed over to him by the Chief Minister at Raj Bhavan, accepted the same and asked KCR to head a care-taker government in the state. The Chief Minister consented to the same.
Known for his astute political sagacity, KCR, who has been keeping close to his chest about his future political vision and mission to retain power in the state by advancing the elections, moved forward in this direction by diligently preparing the route map in this direction and thus adequately gear up the ruling TRS to face the challenges of the Opposition, especially the Congress, in the coming battle royal.
Though officially not made known about the elections being advanced in the state, intense political and administrative developments, various speculations began to float in the state. Top officials of the State including the Special Advisor to the Government, State Election Commission officials and others meeting the Chief Election Commissioner in New Delhi recently and the subsequent visit of the Chief Minister where he had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other union ministers gave enough indications that KCR has something up his sleeve.
Soon after the meeting of the State Cabinet a few days back and then various administrative decisions further heightened the suspense and even kept many TRS leaders on tenterhooks. Then the announcement of the Chief Minister the TRS would contest the elections on its own and that he would soon announce the list of party nominees and his decision to organize a mammoth rally, Pragati Nivedana Sabha, on September 2, further confirmed that KCR was up to something in the direction of advancing the polls.
KCR has also been keenly keeping track of various political developments in the country, more so the manner in which the Congress and other opposition parties have launched a vitriolic attack on the TRS Government in the state. Inputs from Intelligence agencies also seemed to have suggested the moves of the Opposition parties to forge an anti-TRS Front before the elections besides the upbeat mood in the Congress after Rahul Gandhi’s two day visit.
Thus against this background, the Chief Minister who has been toying with the idea of advancing the elections decided to hasten his plans. Accordingly he had summoned his cabinet to get its approval for dissolving the Assembly. With the clearance of his Council of Ministers, KCR straight away drove to Raj Bhavan and handed over to the Governor the cabinet resolution.
Soon after the Principal Secretary to Governor, Harpreet Singh, released a notification about the Governor accepting the cabinet decision to dissolve the Assembly and that KCR was asked to head a care-taker government.
Now the ball is Chief Election Commission’s court to decide whether to club the elections in Telangana with four other states going to polls in December. (Maxim News).
