Hyderabad, September 30: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy has accused the BJP Government of trying to politicise the valor of Indian armed forces.
“In the name of ‘Parakram Parv’, BJP Government is trying to divert the attention of people from its failures and scams. With no answers to questions raised by Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Rafale deal, Prime Minister Narender Modi is trying to divert attention by celebrating the anniversary of surgical strikes. This is a very low grade and cheap politics of BJP wherein it wants to misuse the sacrifices made by soldiers for its some political gains,” he said in a media statement on Sunday.
Gudur Narayana Reddy said that the surgical strikes were a regular occurrence since 1998. “The Congress-led UPA Government had carried out surgical strikes on August 30, 2011 under the leadership of the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. But Congress party never politicised the role played by brave soldiers in defending the country. Further, it were the Congress Governments which fought four mighty wars, including the 1971 war which led to the surrender of 95,000 Pakistani soldiers and creation of Bangladesh. But the Congress party never gave those wars a political colour. BJP should be ashamed of itself for its approach towards the surgical strikes,” he said.
The Congress leader alleged that the BJP has become habitual of drawing publicity out of each and every small issue. It banks on issues like Triple Talaq or Beef Ban for its survival. He said BJP has now stooped down to such a level that it was trying to draw political mileage by celebrating anniversary surgical strike. “If BJP is really honest in celebrating the valor of Indian armed forces, then it should also celebrate the anniversary of 1971 war against Pakistan which India won under the Congress Government,” Gudur Narayana Reddy said.
