Rythu Bandhu, Bathukamma old schemes: CEO

Hyderabad, Oct.1 (Maxim News): Much to the delight of the ruling TRS party leaders, the Election Commission today made it clear that the previous schemes which are in vogue can be implemented without any problem in the state.

Despite election code of conduct is in force in Telangana, the government can continue its old schemes like Rythu Bandhu and Bathukamma sarees distribution in the state, the Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar, made it clear here. He told media persons in Secretariat on Monday that since Rythu Bandhu Scheme and Bathukamma sarees distribution program are the two old schemes, there is no problem for their continuation. These two are not new schemes and not violating the election code of conduct, he said.

With this, the ruling party which is on cloud nine, is making all arrangements in a jubilant mood as there is no hindrance to take up the second spell of Rythu Bandhu program to distribute Rs 4000 per acre cheques among the farmers in the state. Besides this the officials concerned are also ready with the stocks of sarees to be distributed among the womenfolk in the wake of the state festival of Bathukamma.

Rythu Bandhu scheme cheques to farmers with land and distribution of Bathukamma Sarees can go on without any political involvement as they do comply with norms of the election code, he remarked. It is pertinent note that the Bathukamma festivities are beginning on October 9 and ending on 17, and stocks of the sarees are sent to districts. About 80 models of sarees with gold zari borders have been dispatched to the districts, and collectors and officials were asked to ensure smooth distribution of the same during the conduct of the Bathukamma as the state festival.(Maxim News)
