Hyderabad, Feb.4 (Maxim News): TRS MP B Prakash said Centre to provide national status to Medaram Tribal festival in Telangana State. He appealed to the Centre to allocate Rs 1,000 crore and set up a Tribal Museum at Medaram near Mulugu in old Warangal district.
Speaking in Rajya Sabha, Prakash said the State government was conducting the biennial tribal festival on a grand note. The Center has to offer national festival status to this ancient festival, he appealed. Since crores of people throng the four-day festival from February 5, the Central government should extend help, he said. Despite slump effect, the State government has allotted Rs 75 crore for providing necessary facilities and arrangements, he said. Prakash also informed the House that the chief ministers and people from the neighboring States visit the festival. “Though we have repeatedly appealed to the Centre for nation festival status Medaram fair, there was no response yet”, he bemoaned.
