Visit of Australian High Commission members in India to the UoH
Hyderabad, Oct.22 (Maxim News): The Australian High commission in India represented by Brett Galt-Smith, Counsellor, Education and Research, Shazia Naqvi, Australian High Commission New Delhi and Janaki Sreerama, Consulate office Chennai visited the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on Friday. They interacted with Prof. BJ Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. R. Sarraju, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Deans of the Schools and some faculty, who had Australian collaborations at a meeting organised by Director of International Affairs Prof. N. Siva Kumar.
UoH is an Institute of Eminence and a destination for several students, including foreign nationals, and has faculties in different disciplines actively involved in teaching and research activities within and also with some foreign universities. Some of the faculties of UoH have earlier obtained their Doctoral degrees from Australian Universities and also have collaborative research grants.
Prof. BJ Rao presented the achievements of the university and emphasised the need for stronger documentation and strengthening of collaborations between UoH and Australian Universities. Brett Galt-Smith, while speaking lauded the UoH for its academic strengths and expressed the strong desire to facilitate more mobility of students between UoH and select Australian Universities. The areas of fostering further cooperation and partnerships, apart from Student mobility was Policy exchange, Alignment with regulatory mechanism of higher education institutions between the two countries, transnational training and education, especially in the digital space because of Covid19. The Australian Counsellor was keen to see UoH participate in the Expo in 2022 of Australian education industry partnerships. (Maxim News)
