People should participate in Swachh program: KTR, Minister launches 1350 Swachh autos

Hyderabad, Dec.13 (Maxim News): Municipal and IT Minister KT Rama Rao today called upon people to participate in the Swachh Telangana program in the twin cities. Taking a call from the chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao we have to follow Swachh norms and keep our premises clean and help the Swachh workers he said.

The Minister launched 1350 swachh autos and distributed 250 Swachh autos to the beneficiaries working for sanitation in the twin cities. KT Rama Rao has attended a swach autos distribution program at Sanath Nagar playgrounds here with Home Minister Mahamood Ali and Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Mayor Gadwal VijayaLakshmi deputy mayor Srilatha Reddy and GHMC Chief Lokesh Kumar here.

Speaking on the occasion the Minister called upon the people to participate in a swachh program. The minister said that the Swachh Telangana program is good to keep healthy and workers of the GHMC officials and staff are focusing on the clean environment. We have received national level swachh awards he said, adding that Hyderabad got such an award based on the 40 lakh population and above category. With the same spirit the people should cooperate with the civic body staff and officials to keep our premises and environs clean, he said. As part of Swachh Telangana program the KCR Government has started 2500 Swachh autos so far and the vehicles number may increase if necessary in future, he maintained. With this the total number of swachh autos increased to 4500 in the twin cities, he said.

With a rise in the swachh autos and sanitation staff of the civic body the garbage collection doubled to 6500 metric tons a day against the previous 3500 metric tons, he said. The Minister said that a waste to energy power plant with 20 mw capacity was started at Jawahar Nagar area. As the Centre gave permission for another 28 mw the GHMC will focus on production of 48 mw in the city, he informed. The minister instructed the corporators and officials to coordinate and make efforts to collect garbage from every nook and corner of the wards in the city and keep it clean. I hope the city will see a further clean environment with collective efforts, the Minister said.

Srinivas Yadav said that the chief minister gave more swachh autos with dry and wet categories. With new swachh autos the city will see more cleanliness, the minister said. The Minister also claimed that Hyderabad bagged several swachh awards from the Centre. (Maxim News)
