Minister KTR Stresses Importance of Encouraging Progressive States

Hyderabad, June 6 (Maxim News): Industries Minister KT Rama Rao stressed the importance of encouraging the progressive States like Telangana by offering incentives and urged the Centre to take measures in this regard.

Releasing the performance report of the Industries department on Monday, the Minister asserted that the economic development should take precedence over political gains and Prime Minister Narendra Modi should show his slogan of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas‘ in deeds by treating all States equal and keeping aside his political differences.

Accusing the Union government of not extending any support to the States that are politically not aligned to the Bharatiya Janata Party, KTR said that the proposals for setting up six industrial corridors in Telangana have been forwarded to the Centre and for their approval, the State government had reminded the Centre on several occasions but in vain.

Stating that the Telangana has been going on a progressive path since the formation of the State and it’s performance has been excellent in various sectors despite demonetisation, Covid-19 pandemic and zero support from the Central government, the industrial Minister said that Telangana’s GSDP grew from Rs 5.05 lakh crore in 2014-15 to 11.5 lakh crore in 2021-22.

This is about 123 per cent growth during the eight year period. Telangana’s per capita income was Rs 1.24 lakh in 2014-15 and has now grown to Rs 2.78 lakh in 2021-22.

“Narendra Modi always says that he wants to make India a 5 $ trillion economy. At the same time, he doesn’t not extend any support to the progressive States and ignores their demands. Is it possible to take the country on the progressive path without extending the support to all States,” KTR questioned.

He alleged that the Union government’s promises have been only slogans for the years and there was no progress for the incentives that were promised for both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States under the Andhra Pradesh Bifurcation Act.

Meanwhile, Telangana through its flagship industrial policy TS-IPASS attracted Rs 17,867 crore investments in 2021-22 through 3,938 new industries and created employment for 96,863 people.
Cumulatively, TS-IPASS has attracted 19,454 industries so far in eight years, investments of Rs 2.32 lakh crore and created employment for 16.4 lakh people. (Maxim News)
