Hyderabad, June 30: The Cyberabad Police have imposed Section 144 from July 1 to 4 in advance of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s national executive meeting in the city on July 2 and 3, which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Stephen Ravindra issued prohibitory orders against a group of more than five people on Wednesday in order to prevent riots or affray and maintain public peace.
The order does not apply to police officers, military personnel, home guards on duty, or funeral processions, according to the notification.
“The public is hereby notified that any person violating the above orders will be prosecuted under Section 144 Cr. P.C,” it continued.
The police had also issued orders prohibiting the use of drones or other flying machines within a 5 km radius of the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) in Gachibowli, the site of the BJP’s meeting. The order is in effect from 6 a.m. on June 30 until 6 p.m. on July 4.
