It may be recalled that many farmers of Andhra Pradesh approached the NGT, alleging that they were committing environmental violations during their construction, and a fine of Rs. 920 crores was imposed. Telangana government strongly opposes this verdict.

On the order of the KCR, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court challenging the NGT verdict.
