Hyderabad, July 25: A 26-year-old postgraduate medical student died by suicide after allegedly jumping from the fifth floor of an apartment building in Nagaram West Gandhinagar in Medchal Malkajgiri district on Friday. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to her death.
The deceased was identified as Dikshita, who had completed her MBBS and was pursuing her first year of Postgraduate Ophthalmology at Siddhartha Medical College near Bengaluru.
According to police, Dikshita had returned to her parents’ home on July 17 and was staying with her family.
On Friday afternoon, she allegedly jumped from the fifth floor of Bhavani Paradise Apartment, where her parents reside.
Family members rushed her to a nearby private hospital with serious injuries. However, she succumbed while undergoing treatment.
Police said the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be established.
According to her parents, there had been no family disputes and they had no suspicion against anyone.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Preliminary inquiries are exploring all possible angles, including whether academic stress may have been a contributing factor. The exact cause will be determined after the investigation is completed.
