New Delhi, July 25: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said he resigned to keep students from legal and political uncertainty. In his letter, he said the decision was taken for the future of youth. He also said the NEET row should not damage national unity.
Pradhan said the government acted quickly after the May 3 NEET UG irregularities. He said the case went to the CBI, the exam was cancelled, and a re examination was announced. He also said the test will move to CBT mode next year.
He said the June 21 re examination was conducted successfully for more than 20 lakh students. He also noted that many students from poor communities secured good ranks. Pradhan said he took responsibility from day one and did not want any student to suffer because of exam irregularities.
He added that the protests at Jantar Mantar and the wider unrest troubled him deeply. He said students should spend time on studies, not legal battles. He also warned against attempts by anti national forces to exploit the situation and disturb the country’s unity.
Pradhan said he has served the education sector for four decades. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the opportunity to serve the country. He ended the letter by saying he will keep working for the aspirations of Odisha, the youth and Mother India.
