Action Against Silencer Modifications And Promotion: Hyderabad CP

Hyderabad, April 2 (Maxim News): Hyderabad City Commissioner of Police K.Sreenivasa Reddy informed that as part of efforts to curb environmental pollution and ensure road safety, the Traffic Police of North District has undertaken stringent measures against the illegal modification of motorcycle silencer.

During the Special Drives conducted, there were (1910) cases booked, and about (1000) modified silencers were confiscated from the violators and the same will be destroyed.

The modification of silencers on motorbikes not only violates traffic regulations but also contributes significantly to environmental degradation.

The removal of silencers or the installation of modified ones leads to amplified noise levels and an increase in Air pollution, posing serious health hazards to both individuals and the community at large.

As per the amendment of Section 190(2) of the Motor Vehicle Act, fitting pressure horns and modified silencers on your bike causing Air and noise pollution is punishable with a fine of upto Rs. 10000/- and imprisonment of upto six months. This penalty applies if your pressure horn or modified silencer produces more than 80 decibels of noise. (Maxim News)
